James Watson and Francis Crick received the Nobel Prize for their work modeling the DNA molecule. But an open question remains as to whether they stole data from a female colleague and claimed credit for themselves. Based on a true story, the provocative Photograph 51 explores sexism, ethics and scientific collaboration through the real-life character of British biophysicist Rosalind Franklin, who provided the key breakthrough leading to the DNA discovery. The Southwest Shakespeare Company brings this intriguing portrait of a smart, stubborn and courageous woman to the Farnsworth Studio Theater at Mesa Arts Center.
